"And don't keep the faith."

Christopher Hitchens closing a letter he wrote to apologize for missing a speaking engagement at the American Athiests convention in April of 2011 due to his recent diagnosis of esophageal cancer.

This photo was taken in March of 2010, on stage just after Apolo Ohno, one week removed from his record setting olympics performance, had finished speaking. His opening line, which cracked everyone up was, "Now I know how a person feels who just got second at a Marylin Monroe look alike contest."

Prints for Causes

Above is a canvas print of a historical sunrise on Peak Eight in Breckenridge, CO. Historical in the fact that it was shot in 2004 and there now sits a ski lift almost to the summit, plainly visible even while you drive into town. I love this shot because it always takes me back to that morning at our house on Locals Lane. The only reason I was up was our one year old puppy Maya had to go pee. She scratched at the door, I opened it and immediately ran back inside for the camera and shot a few frames from the front porch. The colors are right there in the Provia slide film. This was it.

It gives me great pleasure to officialy launch my Prints for Causes program, where a portion of profits on all print sales will go to a specific cause. I'm beginning the series by celebrating winter and supporting the Colorado Avalanche Information Center. They are having a fundraiser this saturday night Nov 12th, if you are interested in helping out this vital public service. , help an important cause, get some Christmas shopping done!

Happy Halloween

The more marble sized, wasp killing spiders like this one in the world, the better. Dear mister spider, please feel free to come back to live in the tomato plants next summer, bring some family with you if you like. It's an all-you-can catch, cocoon and feast party!

Stage 5 of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge in Breckenridge, CO

It was an electric and rowdy scene in Breckenridge, CO at the finish line of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge. Sage 5 started in Steamboat Springs, CO and was briefly led by Andy Schleck coming into Breck, only to be caught by the sprinters on the last corner...

Way to go overall champ Levi Leipheimer! See you next year...

Hats off, or should I say on, to stage winner Elia Viviani with another amazing finish having won the stage in Steamboat the day before. Makes me want to chant Ullr, ullr...

Life is good for Levi.

Wichita Wedding

What a beautiful day it was this past June 4th, when my cousin Ian Smith married Kate Herzog at Botanica Gardens in Wichita, KS. It was an outdoor ceremony in the gardens on a gorgeous aftenoon followed by a lively reception that included a rocking band from Connecticut who are friends of Kate and Ian's. If that wasn't enough for a festive family day, it also happened to be my parents 50th Wedding Anniversary and my son's 5th birthday.

Hotel Denver

The Hotel Denver in Glenwood Springs, CO is using some of my photos for their advertising on the web. It's a very cool and funky hotel with lots of history, a great location and a huge tasty brewbub, the Glenwood Canyon Brewing Company, I highly recomend it!

Highlands Ranch project

This is a bit of work I did recently for local realtor Jim Lynch of Zip Realty. He was looking for specific photos to use as banners for his website devoted only to Highlands Ranch properties. I'm looking forward to shooting spring photos for him in a couple months. Haven't seen his website yet, but when I do I will post a link...

Denver Big Air

Woo hoo, it was a chilly night with some hot skiing. Most of the time they all stuck their landings, very good to see that. Only saw one 'that's-gonna-hurt-cause-I-heard-an-echo-throughout-Civic-Center-Park' crash, from the sound of the young man's person hitting the-scaffolding/plywood/astroturf/manmade snow covered landing, not so good to see that. He was ok thankfully. Alex Bellemare, above, was a winner and a spinner. Check out the Denver Big Air contest results, if you like.
